JavaScript, often abbreviated as JS, is a programming language and core technology of the World Wide Web. It was created in 1995 by Brendan Eich while he was working at Netscape, where the language was originally introduced as a scripting tool for the company's web browser. Today, JavaScript runs in nearly every browser on the planet and powers the vast majority of websites.
